Thank You, I'll try to sand the parts to "polish" back to "original specs" Thank You for your help. But how fine of a grain of sandpaper would you recommend? No Emery cloth of course.

Again, that will depend on how rough it is now. Some finishes that have been done with coarse glass / sand, are very rough and will require more surface to be removed to become smooth again. If...

I heard that Naval Jelly will take it off right down to the white metal.Haven't tried it yet, but I've worked with NJ and I believe it would.Just a thought.
